Valve cover bolt size
Does anyone here know the size of the valve cover bolts?
I was installing a new gasket and I stripped one bolt.
It wouldn't go into the hole.
I need to know what tap size to get and bolt.

Cast cover - 1/4"-20x1"
Stamped cover - 1/4"-20x3/4" or so.
Get a 1/4"-20 tap set (starting and bottoming,) or a 1/4"-20 screw thread insert kit (use a Heli-Coil or a Re-Coil, you'll have a hard time with a threaded bushing. Keen-Sert or Time-Sert might work - they're thin-walled bushings.)
Stamped cover - 1/4"-20x3/4" or so.
Get a 1/4"-20 tap set (starting and bottoming,) or a 1/4"-20 screw thread insert kit (use a Heli-Coil or a Re-Coil, you'll have a hard time with a threaded bushing. Keen-Sert or Time-Sert might work - they're thin-walled bushings.)

Thanks. Ended up taking the bolt to lowes found the nut that fit it to find out it was 1/4 - 20
