Default Vacuum pipe to Wastegate actuator.

Hi all and thanks in advance.
RE
2001 Jeep Cherokee Diesel VM 2.5TD
The wastegate actuater is connected to an intercooler pipe by a rubber pipe.
Is this correct as I assume it requires a vacuum not pressure to work?
PLEASE can someone post a photo of the correct pipe setup in that area?

Hello -
All I can honestly tell you is "Good luck." We're a primarily North American board here, and the only Diesels we usually work with in the XJ is the Renault 2.1L/126ci turbodiesel, used 1985-1987.

The VAM/VM Motori Diesel (what you've got) was primarily used in the European market (some Asian, and possibly South America,) and never made it here in any numbers, that I know of.

You may want to pillage any local Jeep clubs you can find to find a mate who can give you a pic of what you need, or plough around on ebay.co.uk for a "Factory Service Manual" (FSM) - which is something that every serious Jeep owner should have anyhow. I would imagine that European FSMs would have info on the VAM Diesel - because I haven't see it in any of the US FSMs.

As I said, good luck. Sorry I couldn't help you more, but I hope this gives you a point in the right direction...

Oh yes, that just reminded me!

Check out www.lostjeeps.com. There are some folks over there with the 2.8L which MAY have similar turbo plumbing.
