Default Vacuum Canister

Hey All,
New to the XJ world. Sold my JKU and started building the XJ recently. I've been trying to figure out where everyone is relocating their vacuum canister to. For what I can tell most are letting them float in the bay. I saw some put it against the firewall on the passenger side, but I have this steel plate there. There is a harness attached to the bottom of it. Anyone know what it is? Can I unplug and remove it to put the canister there?

that would work if it does not hit the hood. On mine I actually used a square one off a tj and stuck it between the coolant overflow bottle and fuse box , I have also seen them mounted to the hood

Unfortunately there isnt enough room for the hood to close with it on top. Idk what that plate is but its cramping my ideas. I want to do a cowl intake but dont know if it will interfere.

What model year is your Jeep? Mine is a 98 and I don't have that. Also, good move in selling the JKU. My uncle has one and it's riddled with engine problems.
