vacuum
Was replacing my front bumper and found what appears to be a vacuum canister. It looks like it has been patched and appears to hold a vacuum for a few minutes. Was wondering what it does and if it is necessary.

Hi Charlie and Welcome to the Forum.
That canister holds extra vacuum to keep the heater controls working during periods of low engine vacuum. Also for the cruise control if you have that. If it leaks you should replace it and a lot of folks relocate it to the engine compartment as the vacuum lines going to I have a bad habit of cracking and leaking.
