Default Using heater to cool engine?

Hey!
I have heard that running the heater in an automobile can help wick away heat from the engine. Is this true? Have had some occasional trouble with the engine cooling in Rockhead's XJ being a bit anemic.
Thanks!

Yes turning on the heater will lower the temp.
