If your referring to the overhead console? yes, it will work. Did you grab the wire harness with it. You might need it for the sensor on the compass/temp module. Depending on what year model it came out of. Because up to 1993, they didn't have mpg's included in the module. After that they changed, and it did. My '91 has one in it. It was an option you don't see very often. I called a dealer about a module for mine, about two years ago. The module for a 1991 still listed for $699. I ended up buying a really beat up one (with working module) for $65. And took it out, to throw into mine. I don't know what the JY charged you for it. Because they know the value of them. If the module doesn't work, there is other Chrysler vehicles they used that module in. Like the Town & country van, The Fifth ave., The New Yorker., and a couple of other ones. They are worth there weight in gold. Check e-bay for the going rate of them. Usually well over $100 at a crack. So if you don't use it. You can sell it. And it will sell quickly. Good find, My hat is of to you!

so i went to install the upper counsel and i seam to be missing the main harness i will up load some pictures in a bit, but i had some modular thing mounted above the rear view mirror(also a weird top piece to a gym sock which i don't think is a stock jeep part) and then i only had a small 2 pin harness that the dome light was hooked up to

I only have a 1991 version. So mine doesn't look quit like that. The thing by your mirror is probably for the alarm/remote entry. I didn't see the little black dome on your console. Like mine has. There should be a wire harness under the headliner for, The alarm, the compass/temperature/mpg module, and the overhead map lights. Go back to the JY and get the wire harnesses if you are missing any. here is one for sell on e-bay with the needed harnesses. With some pretty good pics. of every thing. Scroll through the whole e-bay page. Also catch the going price, If you decide to sell it. there is an easy $150 profit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-JEEP-C...c65a7f&vxp=mtr
