Default Upper ball joints

My upper ball joint on the passenger side of my '96 xj seems to be defective. This is something I've yet to fix. Is there anything I should know before attempting to do this myself. As in tips or "don't bother pay someone". Thank you.

it's a fun job. change both while you have it apart. top first. get the tool to press them out. then while your at it. might as well change axle u-joint.

I just got new ball joints put on mine, didn't want to tackle it myself. The shop tore both axles seals when replacing the axles but thankfully they took responsibility and fixed it. So for $500 total I got 4 new Moog ball joints, new axle seals, fresh axle fluid and an alignment.
