Default "upcountry" jeep?

I have, so far, bought two XJs now that both said "Country" on the side. They were both suppose to have had the country package. That is suppose to include, the 3 rock guard skids (steering, t-case, gas tank), a tow package, possible rear Dana 44, tranny cooler, ect.. My running jeep came with power nothing and none of those items. The other came with the skids, tow hitch, and power everything. Now that package is suppose to come with 3.73s. I just checked the ring on the non-loaded jeep and it looks like a 3.55. I swapped the front axle out of the "power everything" jeep a little while back. I'm going to make sure the ratio is the same. Any thoughts on this supposed "upcountry" package and what it's suppose to be.

Up country is a special package. I'm pretty sure country is just the base xj.

If thats true i'm gonna be a little pissed. That seems like some false advertising. And why would my donor come with the UpCountry skid plates and tow package and tranny cooler? Could you get those without getting the upcountry package?

country and up country is not the same. probably what happened is the original buyer of one country xj didnt want the upcountry package, and the other buyer who got the other country xj did want the upcountry package. same thing with why some renix xjs dont have 44s. the people who bought them didnt want the upgraded package.

Yes, then why didnt it come with the rear dana 44 or the gear set. The one that seems like he wanted the Upcountry package, only got about half of it. On wikipedia it says Country was a trim package available from 93-97. I'm also told the "upcountry" come with a limited slip diff. Now if its not obvious, i'm not to good with axles. I thought a limited slip is pretty much what they all came with. Did this come in both axles with that package?

My biggest problem right now is that i swapped the front axle from these two. The one with the upcountry package is suppose to have 3.73s. The other has 3.55s. How bad would it be to have 3.73s up front and 3.55s out back. I know this may be a stupid question but like i said, i dont know much about this inside of an axle.

as far as i know, UPcountry only meant a 1" higher than stock suspension and skid plates. it may have a limited slip. i dont know for a fact. take the diff cover off and post a pic.

There should be a tag on the diff with the ratio information you need.

D44s' only came on XJ that were built prior to 1990.

Maybe try contacting Chrysler and get the build sheet for each Jeep and then you'll know what they came with.

I think i figured it out. They made the "Country" jeep from 93-97 as a trim package. The "UpCountry" was an ad-on package available like the Eddie bauer explorers and harley davidson f-150s. It came with skids, a limited slip diff and the suspension upgrade. I have the skids but i let the rear axle go when i junked the donor so the limited slip went with it. i feel like an idiot now knowing this. Oh well, my question was answered. Its getting painted pretty soon anyway so i'll forget it ever said country on the side lol

If I have an 89 limited, can I use the skids and all that if I find them on a junkyard xj? I was looking for them a while ago but I could never find them. Also, would all the skids work with a lift? I'll lift mine once I get enough money, but I don't wanna spend extra on brand new skids if I don't have to.

I'm not going to lie and say it was easy taking it off even for a california jeep. It took a lot of effort taking the bolts out with my 1/2" drive 28" long breaker bar. My xj didn't have the nut strip on the drivers either so I bought one from the dealer. It was pricey but wasn't worth the time and effort trying to get an old rusty one from the jy.
