While crawling around under my 96 XJ I noticed a hose attached to the top of my front differential. At the end of the hose there is a white plastic plug. The hose is about 2 feet long and is attached to the frame extending upward. Is this the way to fill the differential? Or what am I looking at? Thanks for any assistance.

 

That is the differential vent. The tube is to keep water out in shallow crossings.
