Last Saturday afternoon my 2000 XJ (4.0 I6 engine) started making a clicking noise, it stopped until it started again Tuesday morning. It seems to get faster the more I accelerate, but if I take my foot off the gas, even if the car goes the same speed, the clicking stops. Any ideas what this could be/how important this is to fix? Thanks for any help!

Does it do it while you're not moving, or only while moving?

 

I'll have to pay more attention to that next time it happens, but off the top of my head I'd say only while moving.
