Unhappy EAR-MANGLING MACHINE GUN BACKFIRING!!! help

hey guys me again....
so after a day of wheeling i drove over to a buddies house(my jeep ran fine on the road).shut off the rig, and hung out for a bit.
now, when i went back to fire it up, nothing....
so i jumpstarted it thinking maybe i just rocked the battery loose.
it idles fine but when i give it gas it backfires so go**amn loud everyone in the neighborhood was one their porch...and its not one or two backfires its BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
(like this)
its a constant machine gun sound but is louder than a shotgun!!
i stood behind my jeep and watched as little bits of my caty converter came flying out (its chopped after cat) makin it much louder.
it came to the point where you have to plug your ears to stand anywhere near it (even inside its to loud)
its the 2.5 I4
maybe fouled plugs?
pls and thanx pros!!

my neighbors already hate my loud cars and i dont need anymore one finger salutes

IDK... sounds like its Timing/spark/fuel related.. Maybe its running rich and excess fuel is igniting in the exhaust? Maybe CPS is bad and screwing with timing? Just trying to throw out some ideas.. dont even know if that last one is possible..

That almost sounds like a spark plug backing out or maybe a flaw or crack in the exhaust manifold, but I don't know why those things wouldn't cause the same thing at idle, and I can't imagine what the hell is blowing out of the cat/exhaust.

A backfire out the exhaust usually means a rich mixture on the exhaust side. That may be why you see stuff blow out the cat. Remove your plugs and check the tips. Look for black soot they may give a clue. Look for something that may be causing a rich mixture.

AHA!! tis the alternator! barely gettin spunk to the plugs, so its just jammin gas in there and not able to ignite all of it

alternator doesnt really have anything to do with spark, it is only used for charging of the battery and to keep systems running.. If you have weak spark I would check the cap/rotor, plug wires, and change your spark plugs theyre cheap. It might be your coil also, but I would do the less expensive stuff first. Im thinking its pry the coil or the cap/rotor..
