Default Underbody coating

I everyone, I have a 2001 Cherokee, I live in WI and I would like to stop the surface rust on the underbody. Does anyone know the most effective, longest lasting product?

I had a 76 Chevy truck from wv with roofing tar as undercoating. It was chipping off a little bit but not bad. There was a rust spot in door jam and then a couple in the bed. I'd give it a shot. Make sure you mask off your driveshafts and exhaust before applying anything.

I used to work at a shop that used tst undercoating, that stuff is expensive!

Neutralize the rust first with one of the 'converter' products or else it'll keep growing underneath the tar. All it takes is one small pinhole in the coating for air or water to get in. I got to do my floorpans twice for that reason.

What I am going to go with is called "Fluid Film". I've read many reviews on it and it sounds pretty decent. I think you have to reapply every 6 months, but I think from the reviews it is a pretty decent product.

I just did the the who undercarriage of my 99. I wire brushed/ sanded any surface rust. Primered it with a zinc rich red oxide primer (rustoleum) and then followed it up with 2 coats of 3M professional undercoating which has asphalt as one of its ingredients and it came out great.

I'm not exactly sure whereabouts it came from. I got it off my buddy that lives in coal ridge. And I'd have to agree with you that wv is a great state. Wish the deer down there were as big as they are up here tho!
