Default Unable to open hood... Help?

I installed a new hood-latch-cable. Pre-tested its' operation. Shut the hood. Unable to re-open.

Tried:
1) Video on how to release the latches. I am unable to reach them because the skid-plate is in the way. No skid-plate on the exampled Jeep

2) Video on how to release the latches by removing the headlights, remove the two bolts (each-side) that hold the latches. In the video, his hood popped open
Sadly mine did not

Suggestions?

Successful results?

You installed a new cable because the old one broke? Was it hard to pull. Does the new cable move but is also hard?

Replaced old cable as the inside handle was busted... Otherwise, all worked fine.
The old cable pulled normally.
The new cable only pulled out slightly with a hard-yang. Now stuck.

As suggested by another post... I removed the screws that holds the handle. The cable/sleeve pull-out together. Possible the two now pull-out because the latches under the hood are un-bolted.

As a last resort you could remove the header panel. It should all come apart without opening the hood.
That will take some time, but it will give you enough access to open it manually.

Default Open!

- Removed the two bolts behind each of the headlights to release the two end latches.
- Removed the skid-plate.
- Slid a wooden-pole up between the fan and radiator, pushed up on the front-center of the hood
- Hood opened enough for my buddy to open it all the way.

Yeah!

Keep the latches at both corners of the hood, and the bellcrank on the underside of the hood, clean, and lubed well. They get dirty and like to stick. I havent popped the hood on mine in quite a while and had a hard time getting it open the other day as the cable barely moved. Once i got the hood open, i found the bellcrank was starting to sieze up due to rust as the factory plating was pretty much gone.

Hood-release is way too tight when re-opening the hood. Help?

Before you attached the hood end of the cable did you move the lever by hand? Was it right? If so spray lithium grease into it while moving the lever the full range.

To re-test... I snapped pencils into the latches... Pull cable. Both pencils drop-out.

I observe spacers under the latch/spring mechanism. What would be the result if I added addition spacer(s)?
