Default UK ignition system different?Non Start!

Hi got a1999,4.0litre sport, washed the engine and now playing up.Suspect sensor in distributor, appears different to unit described/ shown on here.Sensor mounted on grey plastic plate in top, with 3 wires running through, can find no reference to it or similar picture on pattern parts or one for sale?
I have had it running twice but it stops, loses power.
Has a spark but timing seems out will crank over and only tries to start when gas pedal is held down, then it appears to advance up.
Suddenly it will right itself start idle rev drive but, then lose power and stop.
Basics checked plugs leads, cap, fuel pump running, stuck between my workshop and the car wash.
I washed the engine because it was dirty and to check on a couple of slight leaks, ran fine before,no issues, just a quick rinse covered the leads and cap with a plastic bag, dried the cap leads afterwards, any ideas help appreciated Sean

On the throttle body there are a couple of sensors that don't like getting wet. Specifically the TPS, but also the IAC valve. I'd say disconnect them and try to dry them out as best you can. Here's a picture to assist in referencing the location of the sensors.

I don't know what the exact differences between US and UK spec are. Got a picture of the part?
But yeah, if you just washed it something's wet that doesn't like to be. VTJ outlined the most likely culprits.

On my much older Jeep holding it floorboarded cuts off the fuel. Cranking like that with the throttle open it can breathe and dry out if it's flooded.

Are you seeing any black smoke or maybe smelling gas? I think your MAP sensor is on your TB. Might have a little "L" vacuum line beneath it...not sure, but easy enough to check. The MAP is one that certainly can give you grief if it's not right. (it "roughly" figures the fuel mix) Just a thought, check its tube and wires. And yes, I've seen posted plenty you don't want to get the TPS wet.
