Hello, I am in the UK and have a (year 2000) Cherokee XJ which is somewhat neglected. I have been working on the drivers side and I have replaced the upper and lower steering knuckle ball joints.
I notice that the top ball joint has no movement in the threaded shaft at all (ie it doesn't rotate/pivot) but the lower one does rotate completely. Is this right?
Should the top one be fixed?
I didn't take much notice when I removed the old knackered ones and they've been thrown away now.
Looking online there is conflicting information - some people say both top and bottom should move freely and others say the top one should not swivel.
Top ball joint was pressed in from above, lower one pressed up from underneath - as shown in some great YouTube video tutorials.
Hope someone can offer me some advice - thanks so much !

the upper balljoint don't move. just the lower, but have to be replaced as a set.
