Default Uh oh...do I need to replace these springs?

Hi! I have a bit of a problem on my 2000 xj...I have leaf spring saggage...but im only measuring that they sagged a couple of inches...anyways, I was looking at the stock (frowny-face-shaped now) leaf spring packs and on the passenger side, the second-to the closest to the ground half-leaf is loose. Like I can slide it up and down the pack with my hand...it's still attached by the little clamp but I think it's supposed to be sandwiched between two other leafs...? If not, then the other side is messed up lol...is this serious? I wish I could buy new leaf packs and just get OME 2 inch ones while I'm at it, but alas I am still younger than most on this forum and don't have a job yet....anyone know how urgently these springs need replacing? I'd like to get my license around the beginning of the school year so I'm trying to get the jeep fixed up to be a daily driver (fixing rattles, rust repair, squeaks, etc...)

You can replace the spring packs if they are sagging for a couple hundred bucks. The cost will depend on the height and brand you pick.
Check our vendors.

That leaf shouldn't be loose. Take a close look and see if it's broken. If it is, it's a hazard.
If you are on a limited budget you might consider reading up on building a 'bastard pack' out of salvage yard leafs. You can get them pretty cheap.

Yeah I figured it's bad...lol probably gonna have to ask for help from my parents as much as I don't want to do so...although my birthday is coming up...but thanks for the suggestion...although I live in a small town in Maine and have never been within 500 feet of a junkyard...lol I think I saw one off a highway once...also, maine has laws against home-brew leaf springs, and also (on a different subject) tires over 2 inches bigger than stock and also against coil spacers and extended shackles...I also don't think the leaf is broken...obvioulsey it is about 6ish inches long I'd say, but it looks like it just came un-sandwiched judging by the other side....thanks again though!!

Haha yeah...frame height laws based on weight so you could have like 5-6 inches of lift but legally only go to 31's...kinda sounds unsafe to me but whatever....I know that some people have inspection tires...like stock ones, and then put on 33-35's as soon as they get home lol
