Default U joint sizes

So it time to replace my front wheel u joints and the dealership said they have two sizes 1.060 or 1.187 I believe he said. Not sure what the difference Is maybe something to do with having abs or something like that.

Anyways i was wondering how to check or measure which size it is, or if anyone knows what size it is that'd be easy too

94 4.0 8.25 no abs...

Another thing, what else should I replace while doing the ujoints ? Bearings or hubs? Something along those lines?

I just got back from NAPA about an hour ago. Among other things, I picked up some Precision u-joints for my 99. They are heavy duty, greasable with limited lifetime warranty and cost $24.99 each. As far as sizes, I dont know why there would be different sizes for your specific year if you gave them all the details (engine, 4w or 2wd, etc.). And as far as doing other stuff, replace whatever is bad if youve got the money and plan on keeping her.

Aren't all 5 u-joints in the 2 XJ drive shafts the same part number?

That was at the dealer ship that had the two different sizes, i called napa ad they only had one size for no abs.

I'm kind of skeptical about whether or not I should change em out because they seem tight and good to go , and it was just a suggestion from a buddy.

I'm gonna take it in to get checked out, it has a loud bang every 10-15 feet in 4 wheel , coming from somewhere up front .

the wheel ones are not. his are 5-260x ujoints for a dana 30 non-ABS model all ABS cherokee's have the 5-297x or 5-760x ujoints they are also in the later model cherokee's. so the dealership first off should know that and if they don't i would find another place to replace the ujoints, if you insist on an overpriced dealership they are the smaller of the 2 ujoint listed.

It depends on what rear axle is in the jeep. In at least 97-99 with the D35 one joint in the rear drive shaft is different.

I'm aware of that - which is why I specifically said "drive shaft u-joints" in my post.

That's why I asked. I couldn't remember if one of the rears was different. I am pretty sure all 3 in the front drive shaft are the same as both of the C8.25 rear u-joints.
