You can use a ball joint press to do it too, just be careful about using an impact, I was able to explode the opposite end out of new spicer 760. Here are some pictures that might help.

Here is that mistake I was talking about... Live and learn I suppose.

extremly easy to do make sure you remove the retaing clips from around the inside of the caps. press one side through and remove the cap at this time you SHOULD be able to wedge the joint out of the yoke with the other cap attached. you might have to hit the yoke ears to make sure they are lined up and that the u-joint moves freely. if theres binding our is slightly hard to move the joint and all 4 direction the you will have to play with the yoke ears to get them all straight.

Im doing the front axle/Passenger side. The biggest issue is the cap ends are completely smooth/flush with the eyelets it presses into, no way to determine a clip or anything. A buddy of mine said it might be plastic injected, to just heat up the joint and wait for the plastic to melt then press it out, i heated it for about 10 min, nothing, im irritated cause i was able to install the engine, trans, and lift kit myself, but cant get a simple u-joint accomplished!!!!!

um i have never heard of a jeeps u-joints to have this. and there deffintly are c-clips on the fron axle shaft u-joints thier there. they might be covered by dirt and rust and mud and crap but they are there. i just did this on my 96 xj becuase my locker keeps walking caps out of my front shafts but its ok i probaly an gunna upgrade soon cuase im getting tired of doing them.

if they are the stock ones your gunna have some fun trying to get them out and impact works great on taking old ones out but i recomend using a socket to put them back in. on a dana 30 front axle yes there are c-clips on the front axle shaft u-joints they are on the inside of the yoke ears on the back side of the caps they almost blend in and dont look like there is any but i promise you they are there
