Typical oil leaks locations
This is my first Jeep, so also Ny first 4.0 engine
I've already changed the valve cover gasket. But am still getting a decent size spot over night. Plan this weekend is to get it up on stands and clean the undercarriage and hopefully see if I can identify the source.
Where are some good places to start looking? Do rear mains go out often? Stuff like that?
Thanks in advance!

Valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, and the oil filter adapter. Those are about the 4 main areas you'll get an oil leak. Start from the top and work your way down.

OK lets start with the O-rings on the oil filter adapter then move t the rear main seal and oil pan...all most common oil leaks on 4.0's but they last for a LONG LONG time if taken care of...Tj

Take at peak at the distributor gasket too. The PO on mine left the hold down clamp off which kept the distributor from being helpd down properly which leads to a pretty good leak.
