Well my dad is certified to work on r12 systems and he has been helping me with it but I only see him at work on the weekdays so I have been researching my problem to discuss with him tomorrow

If the system has no/not enough pressure, u've got to run a jumper wire on the low switch to "trick" the system into thinking there is pressure so the compressor will engage. With the gauge/manifold installed and refrigerant canister connected to the gauge/manifold, the compressor should kick-on, thus sucking refrigerant in.

Finally solved! Broke down and took it to a family friend/mechanic. Turns out there was a wire shorting out behind the dash in the Ac mode select switches. $60 including diagnosis and labor costs and now the aux fan kicks on and the compressor works. Added a few cans of freeze 12 and she blows a nice 54 degrees in 92 degree weather. Not too shabby I should say! Thanks for everyones input!

Freeze 12 is $9 a can - get 3
The retro r12 recharge kit is $12
A good set of gauges are $? - I already had an r12/r22 gauge set in the garage
So under $60 if you can borrow a set of gauges
