Default two intreging questions

1. Did my 93 xj country come stock with headers!??! cause I just found some under my hood...
2. I've had some trouble passing smog, and a fellow devulged to me some strange advise. He tells me to pour a quart of "de-natured" alchohol into my gas tank with a quarter tank, and drive directly to the shop for smogging... He says you WILL pass with flying colors, knows from personal experience. Says I can buy it at any hardware store.
Anyone heard of this?!!?

Thanks for any and all answers.

I have heard of it and you can buy it at any home depot or any store but I dont know about putting it in your tank. I may be wrong but I wouldnt do it. Do your headers have any writing or stamped numbers on them?

Yes the 4.0 came factory with what is considered a header it looks in every way like a header unlike most vehicles that come with a iron exhaust manifold which looks nothing like it.

So what you see is most likely the factory "header"

here is a pic to show you what i mean the top one is the factory "header"

the bottom is a aftermarket header see how close they are.

Now as for you second question i have seen people use that stuff before but not sure the exact amount to use and you dont want to mess up on the amount.

I have seen some stuff at autozone before that probaly use's the same stuff so i would grab it if you can find it, i'm not sure how good it works since we dont have emissions testing in nebraska so no need.

Yes sir, thats the header I have. Good thing you had one, the only pic I took was aweful. And yeah I think I'll just take my time, fix it up, and make her pass the right way. putting alcohol in my tank is sorta scary/ghetto.
thanks again for the help you guys.

what are you failing for.... hc, co, nox?

i have done the alcohol thing on a few of my jeeps. some it made better....some of them it made fail worse. i have had many emissions probs with the 27 jeeps i have owned!! alcohol is not the way to go and i dont even know if its legal to run it, but im sure the mods will put a stop if its not!!

I was never big on "fix in a can", Sea Foam works wonders, however the best way is to fix what is broke. What did it fail for?

It failed emissions level twice by like 60 points. I was just looking for A quik fix but since it failed last I've done... Plugs, cables, air filter, fuel filter, two oil changes, cleaned injectors, and I'm swapping the catalytic converter and muffler tomorrow. I was just real curious about this Alcohol.

Dude really?!?!? 27 Jeeps? You deserve an award, haha leave some for us.
