That's what Jeep called it when it was introduced. And it is different than unibody.

True unibody has front and rear "rails" called subframes like my 66 mustang. You have to get subframe connectors to join them together and strengthen the whole thing. The jeep as stated above is better then that because the subframe already runs front to back. It's just thinner and connected to the "tub". Full frames have a better ability to twist separate from the body. When the Cherokee twists the subframe takes the body with it. That's what can knock tour body panels out of alignment. Look at a pickup truck when it flexes. The bed can move.separate from the cab. That is the frame twisting. It doesn't affect the body panels. If the truck was designed like our cherokees the bed wouldn't hardly twist like that. Our setup is very strong. Your aren't going to turn it into a pretzel. You may however knock doors and such out of alignment with repeated flexing.

You did a way better job of explaining that than I did!! Thank you.

Sometimes I wonder if I should post at 4 in the morning while sipping my first cup of coffee or early in the evening after a few beers.............

And I often hear talk about how the Cherokee is at a disadvantage due to the lack if a true frame.
In general, uni-body is stiffer than body-on-frame.
