Angry Twice now really!?

So as some of you know i just had gas put in my diesel box truck, well now my GMA put diesel in her gradncherokee larado. Well im going to tackle this one today. Does anyone know what pins provides power to the fuel pump? I plan on hooking up a battery charger to it, and removing the lines and draining the tank. Then blowing out the fuel rail, and refiling with gas. This should work right? Thanks in advance to all of your help

The should work fine. It may run a little wonky at first startup due to the residual diesel in the lines that you couldn't get out, but it'll clear itself fairly quickly.

What is it with people in Florida not knowing the difference between diesel and gasoline?

I have no idea but its really agitating. Do you know if a trial and error on the fuel pump to get it to pump would cause any harm?

I can't speak for the Jeep pumps, but I know that with the BMW pumps I'm used to, so long as there was fuel for the pump to, well...pump, simply applying power to it to empty the fuel tank worked just fine, with no ill effects.

If I'm wrong in regards to the Jeep pumps, somebody please correct me.

I don't even know how you can put diesel in a gasoline tank. Most filler holes are too small to get the larger diesel filler probe into. A box truck is a different story since their filler necks are typically large in diameter either way. Good luck to ya. It might make sence to put some octane booster in for the first tank.

ya you should just be able to drain the tank and fill it back up with gas. it'll smoke a little bit till it clears out. its better to put diesel in a gas engine, not the other way around.
I know some loggers that have put a couple gallons of diesel fuel in there gas trucks to get back to town.

how much diesel was put in with how much gas? cause you can get away with a bit of diesel with only a bit of knocking and some unburnt fuel exiting the tailpipe. most of which should get trapped in the cat, possibly overheating it tho. but shouldn't be too bad if it's not pure diesel. so as long as there's more gas than diesel in the tank, you should be just fine to run it as it is.
but too much diesel over gas, and you'll want to drain it, or just mix it with some premium gasoline to dilute it enough to run smoother.

just don't let it knock too much, or you risk damaging pistons, rods or the head.

There are a couple of ways to power the fuel pump. You can separate the electrical connector at the pump and run a wire from the positive battery pole to the feed wire to the pump. This is how the manual says to do it.

You can remove the fuel pump relay and jump the socket for pins 30 and 87. This is what the relay does when it is energized. Only problem with this is for the fuel pump to run continuosly you have to run the engine. Otherwise the PCM will shut it down.

Last method would be to run a jumper from positive to the socket of pin 87. This is the feed wire to the pump.

Before you do this remove the relay, turn ignition on and check for voltage at the socket for pin 30. This is just to verify that it is the right socket. You want to power the dead socket.

I woud fuse the wire you are using just to be safe. Also do a quick touch check to make sure pump runs before doing it continuosly.

I work in the rental car biz & I've seen this happen more times than I care to mention! Lol all I do to clear out the sistem is drain the tank, then fill the tank with 5gal gas, remove the fuel rail pressure release valve stem core & put a hose on it to pump the lines clean! Then put the core back in the fuel rail & start her up, but GMA might need some new plugs!?!?
