Default Turn Signal wont stay on

When I turn on the left or right signal, it will stay down but the flasher will only flash a few times then stop. The caution lights still flash fine. Any ideas on what this might be?

sounds like the flasher is just worn out and needs to be replaced

Default Bad Flasher?

This was posted a while ago, but did you ever find out if it was the flasher or not? my 2001 XJ has been doing the same thing on and off once in a while. I read usually the four ways dont work sometimes when the flasher is bad, and mine are fine its just the turn signals. So im stuck if its the flasher, a short, bad grounding, or the actual swith on the colomn.

When my flasher was bad, my four ways still worked. I would try changing that first seeing as how the part is failure prone. Only at the most 15 bucks at the part store.

Had the same issue and it got to the point that I would flip the switch and have absolutely no blinker.

Checked all my fuses and relays, and thought it might have been the turn signal switch itself. Replaced that but to no avail.

Then I discovered that Jeep decided to put the flasher relay inside the dash by the drivers knee instead of with the rest of them. Replaced that and ta-daa!

Long story short its the relay under the dash by the driver's knee. You're gonna have to pull the bottom of the dash off and the steering surround to get to it. Pulling the relay is a pain in the toucus but its better than the pain your wallet will feel if you get a ticket for failing to signal a turn.
