Question Turn Signal Switch Question

My turn signal switch is limp meaning I can move it up and down with out it clicking....and the turn signals dont work at all. What does that mean?...Im not good with electrical issues...help?

has it been weak, it might be stripped out (not sure if thats the right term) so it doesnt click, had a buddy who had to replace his because that happened, he bought the whole switch/lever mechanism.

Before it went "limp" the right turn signal I had to hold in the on position and was a little difficult to turn on...everything else (high low beams, wipers, etc) works except the signals....

from what i understand in his is that there were two little ***** that held it up and down and they wore down or broke so it only effected the turn signal, i dunno if it could be the same for the xj.

Looked it up on the link you gave me. Only 40 or so bucks...though thats the switch and not the thing that controls the wipers and lights etc...we'll see when I look at it when its apart

scotty, ignore him. its one of those things like "seasonal air" (i got hit with that one when i was 16) and it just isnt there...
