Default Turn Signal Switch

I need to replace my Turn Signal Switch, I have a 96 Cherokee, it has an air bag, and cruise control. Do I need to remove the steering wheel or is it possible to replace the switch without removing the steering wheel. Any one done this before? Any one have pics of the job? Thanks.

I found threads on this in the past under multifunction switch. All you need to do is take the column cover off. Should be three screws from the underside. Pull the column cover off and remove the bolts securing the metal hold down bracket. Once that is off, the switch will pull out.

You were right jjstultz, the cover comes off with one tamper torq and two regular torq screws, and the switch assembly comes off with two more tamper torq screws and a 9/32 screw and thats it.

I replaced mine because my wipers would not work. It was only $56 at autozone and they even had it in stock. It was a pretty simple fix and glad it went well. Thanks for your help.

I'm bumping this thread, because I'm about to replace the multi-function switch on my 1996 Cherokee. My delay wipers only work if I fiddle with the switch. I checked out the circuit board on the wiper delay module, and it looks perfect. Since they work if I play around with the switch, I can only assume there's a problem with it. I'll update after I complete the job. Thank you 19XJ96 for describing your install with our one year only 1996s.
