1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic In-Line 6 4liter w/ 175,000 miles

So the clicking noise the turn signal makes when the turn signal is on. Everything about the directional works fine when the car is on. However, when the car is off the turn signal intermittently clicks. No lights. Just the clicking noise.

Jiggling the turn signal *** in the steering wheel can temporarily stop the clicking. But it still comes on sometimes. VERY ANNOYING.

Seems like a loose wire between the directional *** and the steering wheel...thoughts?

Replace the turn signal switch.

 

I actually just dealt with this on a Dakota. Mine was a wire that was doing a short to ground without blowing the fuse. Only way I found out was when did blow and I moved some wires around and discovered the wire shorting out on the ebrake lever. The factory tape had worn away and the wire jacket was worn down also. It had to just sit right and it would click as if getting power but no lights outside or on dash.
