Exactly what the title says... Something is messed up with my ignition switch because I turned the key off and it kept on running the last time I drove the Jeep. It's not dieseling, just running normally and not turning off. I let it idle for a couple minutes to be sure and finally had to yank the coil wire to kill the engine.

The other day I pulled the key out with the ignition in the 'ON' position engine running and so I could run back inside work for a second and let the Jeep warm up. I wonder if I caused something to get mis-aligned within the ignition lock cylinder...

I figure I should replace the lock cylinder anyway since it doesn't seem very secure... I mean it won't let it start without the key, but it should probably be replaced before that does happen... is it a difficult part to replace? Anything I need to know beforehand?

i would replace the ignition switch.
