Hey everyone, just joined back up and I’m thinking this is a good thread for electrical questions? If not is there a good thread that covers how to diagnose turn or break light issues?
I have a 1992 stock XJ
the issue is my break lights don’t work (! Hah) also my turn signals and emergency lights are not working.
However, my headlights work, my reverse lights work, my tail running lights work as long as the head lights are on. Super weird is that when in reverse...; my drivers directional does blink and my passenger directional just is on without blinking.
Weird right? Is there a shared component somewhere that could be the issue. I’ve checked fuses and looked for relays.
any useful threads or ideas out there..?
thanks

It would not be unusual to have more than one electrical fault on an XJ.
check with a test light (or multimeter), if you have 12V going to the brake switch
with respect to the turn and hazard lights, you may have a faulty flasher or multi function switch...or wires
you need to download the FSM, and check the diagnostics and circuit diagram
I also do a quick check on ALL fuses with a test light, both sides, can do the lot in less than 20 minutes
