So it's time for a tune up and I need to know what exactly I need. I know I need spark plugs and spark plug wires. Is there anything else I need?

What year you got. Get OEM plugs and wires. Distributor cap rotor air filter. Good oil change. How good are you with cars. There's some other stuff you can do to

It's a 2001 and I'm very good with cars. I've rebuilt a couple engines so I'm pretty handy. I have always heard so many different things about tune ups so I wanted to be certain. The manual said at 120,000 to replace the transmission fluid, spark plugs, and spark plug wires, among little things too. I was looking into some performance plugs from autozone. Should I not get them?

So with your 01 you only need plugs no wires cap etc. we have a distributorless system. Second our 4.0s don't like fancy plugs, fresh OEMs are the best to go. It's not champions it's ngk I believe, forgot the three letters. Def new air filter if need and yes check all fluids and the differential fluids too. Of you wanna go deep you can do a radiator flush too

If you don't know when the cooling system was last serviced it's as good a time as any to do it. Especially with an '01 with the 0331 head. Thermostat, water pump, rad hoses, possibly the fan clutch.

Check fan clutch too. Jeeps can go a longtime and some people see it as why put so much money into maintenance on an old vehicle but keep your jeep going strong buddy

Will do, I'm a diesel mechanic in the Coast Guard and preventative matainence is the key to keeping and engine running properly and for a long time.

No problem. If you don't already have an external trans cooler it might be a good time to throw one in while doing the cooling system.

Where do y'all recommend I buy all the parts I need? I've reading through my owners manual and it isn't giving me part numbers. Everything I'm finding online seems to be fine but I'd like to get OEM parts and without part numbers I'm out of luck.

I usually get my parts at Napa. Usually the parts they sell are of OEM quality or better. If you decide to replace the water pump you may as well upgrade it. http://www.quadratec.com/products/71212_100.htm
