around 0:18 secs in, it says that when a regular thermostat overheats, it shuts close. then at 0:33 secs it explains the 2 additional things a fail safe tstat has that when it overheats, it keeps it from closing. thought the video was pretty clear...or maybe i'm not understanding your question.

Guess I never heard of a t-stat shutting when overheated.......It's always been my understanding that overheating, caused by a failed t-stat, was due to the t-stat failing to open.

A guy on here was using one and he said when his Jeep overheated it worked perfectly. Temp came down to 130-150 an never went over that. Said He pulled it out when he got home an sure enough it was locked open.

Dunno why someone would lie about it. That's why I put the superstat in because the advance idiot told me that's how it worked. Locked open in overheating situations

There's no 'open locking' mechanism on Stant t-stat.

Something didn't work perfectly 'cause it overheated.......and now his heater doesn't work either 'cause his t-stat is locked open. LOL

Something did work perfectly, the Failsafe tsat. It locks open to let the coolant circulate freely. It was me who made the claims about the failsafe. it kept me from cooking the head when my radiator became blocked by debris in front of it while driving down the road. Any other thermostat would lock closed letting the engine destroy itself, however the failsafe saved me a big repair and towing bill. Dam roadside cleanup crews and their overly large bags!

Other than that MotoRad "Fail Safe" CLAIM, what evidence is there that any other type t-stat, "WHEN OPEN", will close if it becomes overheated?????
