I'm just amazed that's a pic of 2-3 month old coolant. What antifreeze/coolant sold these days isn't extended life, regardless of color?

Thats what happens when extended life coolant meets green antifreeze. The shop that did your flushed screwed you. You need to take the radiator out, flush it completely. remove tstat and water pump flush block, and then flush heater core. My ex-wife did this to my waggy about 6 yrs ago. She put dexcool in and screwed my cooling system up.

^^^^ This!

Flush, flush, flush, and flush again. When you think it's good, flush it again. Unless the shop is doing the work again for free, go somewhere else they should have known better.

Take a gallon of green and a gallon of red antifreeze, mix it in a pot, put it on the stove and watch what happens. You get a nasty crud built up just like his radiator.

It wasn't the shop that did it. I had it flushed because the precious owner never flushed the system and kept adding coolant o it. Then the cap took a ****.

After the flush in November everything was fine. The mechanic told me to come back in December and get another flush "because there's probably more gunk/sludge in there" I didn't go back because I'm an idiot.

That still doesn't solve why I'm losing coolant unless it's all turning into sludge an just sitting in the system somewhere.

Getting compression test Monday.

In any case I hope you're right an all it needs is a few flushes to get back to normal. I cannot afford a head gasket right now.

What ever....... Prestone green plainly states any make, any model, ANY color. Looks like severe coolant neglect in a cast iron block/head motor.......major rust. How many threads have we seen that say "brown, lumpy stuff in my radiator".

The new prestone is called "global" antifreeze. Compatible with any color. What I am describing is standard green and extended life(red) antifreeze.

My point is, virtually every brand of coolant on the shelf at the parts stores and Walmart is labeled "extended life".

So you guys all think I should flush, flush, flush, flush and flush. I agree with you guys but how in the he'll am I going to flush this thing it's dead of winter below freezing every day here in Michigan. It's going to cost me a fortune to have it flushed at a shop and I won't even know if they do it correctly.

GL with the garage, glad thundaluvin can help you out with that.
was there any kind of stipulation that you would not have to pay for the second flush at the shop by chance?Or a reduced price or would you have to pay full price again? I think there should be some kind of guarantee since they know they did not get all the crud out with the first flush.
