Default Trouble with Starter Removal - need help

I was not able to start my car this afternoon. When turning the key, I could only activate my radio. When attempting to turn the key even more, the brake light would appear but no ignition (and a clicking sound).

The battery was tested and was found to still be good. I figured it was probably the start that needed to be replaced.

After disconnecting the negative from the battery, I was able to disconnect the battery feed wire, the solenoid wire, and the lower mounting bolt from the starter. The only problem I'm facing thus far is the upper mounting bolt. It's placed in a very odd sport, making it very hard to access. I tried a socket wrench with a 15mm socket....but didnt have any luck with it.

Any ideas on how to remove this remaining bolt?

I got to mine with a 6in extension and a u-joint. It still was at a bad angle but but I was able to break it loose.

Thanks for the tip - What brand would you recommend?

How do you know it isn't your Neutral Safety Switch causing the issue or bad battery connections?

Sounds like bad battery connections to me. Most likely corrosion between the wires and the terminal clamps.

I'm having the exact same issue with starting on my 98. I do know it's the starter because I just finished cleaning all the connection and replace my weak batter. Plus it will only start if I hit the starter with a hammer. Anyways, On my 98 I can get the top bolt out from the top with a box end wrench. I have removed it before the same way. I have plenty of room to get it from the to with either a box end wrench or a w ratcheting wrench. I will be pulling mine again later today or tomorrow.
