Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
Trying to find this through the parts stores.
The rubber 90 that goes from the metal fuel line from tank to the fuel rail.
Can't even find in the parts manual.
Are these available any more? Are they part of the larger assembly? Easy enough for a hydraulics place to fab up out of other stuff if they have one to look at?
Interesting and I did see one say it fit his XJ, most were Wranglers. Not seeing how that would be a solution for what I am trying to do, but it might be and I am just blind to it. In the photo above the metal fuel line it connects to is in great shape all the way back to the filter. The only cruddy lines under the vehicle are the steel brake line and the return line (vapor recovery line?) to the fuel tank.
That begs another question, did they make the fuel line out of stainless and use mild steel for everything else?
When I am at the junk yard this weekend will see if I can get one off a Cherokee there and take it in to the hydraulics shop and see if they can make one or maybe a braided steel line with a 90 to replace it.
Do I need one of the line disconnect tools to get the rubber line off?.
And from catching a video just now, the clip on the rubber is supposed to be connected to the metal clip by a plastic bit. Not sure how mine is missing, I don't recall any work around there and as far as I know, that has never been disconnected.

Now that I've seen the whole line (pulled everything from rail to filter from a 1998) this might be a great solution. Figuring out how it is going to stay clear of everything before getting into it should not be impossible.
Thanks for the update, SixPack. I may have to do this in the near future and have been thinking of a solution. I went to the dealer near me and they quoted me $173 for the front fuel hose to the fuel rail. The dealer said the back of the fuel line part is not available anymore, but I believe I have seen aftermarket options for $50.
I was also thinking of buying a roll of 5/16 nickel/copper line, bubbling the ends to transition to the connections at the fuel tank hose/filter and the fuel rail at the front. Then I would run just one line front to back. The bends don't look that difficult.

Good luck
My limitation on that is bubbling the ends. Will see what Royal Brass & Hose says about making it similar to what you describe, and comparing that to making a metal tube, bubbling the ends, and using flex between those ends and the vehicle.
