Why did the alternator go out ?

so the oil pressure gauge is a stock gauge? maybe the sending unit is bad ?

let us know how changing the oil helps

Hate to say it but, I've seen your oil pressure gauge on more than one occasion. And all time it was cause by water being pushed into the motor through the front seal, and they all lead to spun main bearings....

Isn't it normal to see the oil pressure go down when idling? Mine when driving stays around 55-60 psi but at idle it gets down to around 30-40 psi...

ya idle can have little lower pressure than driving, but not 0. mud sucks. change your oil right away cuz if it is mud and water you probably already did damage.

Does your dipstick look like it has been in chocolate milk. If so then you have water in your oil. Mud might have been to large a particle to get through the seal but water certainly could. Another reason to check the pan bolts periodically.

Never hurts to change fluids especially if they are suspect. The oil being darker does not indicate water in it but change it and then see if you have any oil pressure. Usually it is the rear crackshaft bearing which dictates the oil pressure and not the front one but first lets see if an oil change helps then we can go from there.
Unless you see a change in the actions of the tranny or a change in it's color I would concentrate your time and resources on the engine first. If you were in deep water or mudd you should consider changing the differential's oil too and for future use you should extend the vent lines for them too.

Change it. It certainly won't hurt it to have it changed.

what doesn't move anymore? the problem is gone? change tranny right away, water is bad for everything, and very bad for auto trans.
