Tries to start,revs up,backfires,and dies..?
I have a 1986 Jeep Cherokee with a 2.8 V6, I have changed fuel filter, and fuel pump, when I try to start it, it revs up like it's going to get going then it backfires thru the carb and dies. To add insult to injury it looks like it is now leaking coolant from the water pump area, please help, heck throw a guess out there.
I found something weird my Haynes manual shows firing order but my plug wires and dist. set up don't add up? If I put them on by the manual it doesn't even try to crank but if I put them back the way I got it, it does the same thing turns over strts to crank the backfires and dies it looks like if I take dist off and turn 180 the fire sequence would be right but I basically did that earlier when I removed wires and put them in order? Right? Also I read that taking dist. off might not have been good thing but it is still acting the same?
