Default Treadwright Puma

Anyone have any experience with this particular tread style? I would really like to get the Warden style but Treadwright doesn't seem to offer them in a 30" tire. I would just get 31" Warden's but I only have a 2" lift and I'm worried about rubbing...The Puma looks pretty good but I'm wondering how it compares to the warden in performance (snow is my only real concern). I can't believe the prices on these tires AND that people seem to have good experiences with them!

I also sent them an email to see if they could make the wardens in 30x9.5R15....we'll see how that goes. I'd really prefer that "BFG All Terrain" style tread...

just for a note, I just put on the 31" (true 31")guard dogs on mine with a 2", needs more trimming, but I got away with the bumper caps trimmed a bit, and took out most of the wheel well plastic to fit. Road drives good as of now but definitely needs more trimming for flex and some bumpstops..

look on their tire descriptions, the other treads in 31" measure out a bit over 30...they have the actual diameters in the description

I have the Puma's in 255/70/16s. Great tire...very similar to the BFG A/T, but the tread depth is a hair shallower. Mine perform great in the rain and the mud, haven't tried them in the snow yet.

Yea I'm in PA so I'll be dealing with snow in about a few months. That is my main concern. Does anyone know if the Puma was based off another name-brand tire tread? That would give me a better basis for comparison. As of now I think I'll be ordering these tires in a few weeks anyways so I'll have to do a write up of how well they perform over the winter (we get some pretty good snow here).

The Pumas are a tread design made by Treadwright themselves. The tires are an A/T style based loosely on the BFG A/T.

Only bad things I've read where when guys aired them down really low; but the ol internet will give you stories from the early 2000's if your not careful; Surely improvements have been made.

I'm struck by the Kumho KL71 - That's what I'm doing next, no question about it.

Thats a nice tire but it looks like you would need a bigger rim than the 15inch, maybe just me. side wall looks kinda small. I looked a something like that at first but we have a lot of stumps around here... I hate stumps

Yeah, It might have been just the pic that made it look like it had a small sidewall. Those look nice. I think i am going with the guard dogs 265 75r 16. Try the retreads out and let yall know.

Do you need a lift to run the pumas in this size? I noticed from their web site the OD is actually 29.5".

Mine measured out to be a hair over 30'', I believe 30.2 or so, I needed to trim the bumper caps a bit to keep from rubbing with a 2'' lift.
