Default So I was installing a Thule snowboard rack when...

I noticed that the roof of my jeep has damage to the top coat, looks like it got hit by hail and chipped off the top coat in a thousand tiny places. Some of them have become a little bigger (pencil eraser size) and are rusting.

What do you think I should do to treat this?

It's a 2001, so I don't want to make it look atrocious and hurt resale value.

But, it is black.... so I'm wondering if I could get away with applying bedliner on the roof?

Your thoughts?

If done right, this wouldn't look out of place. Plus, it would protect it better than with just painting it.

a couple of guys have posted pics with the bedliner on the roof. It looks a lot better then you would think, especially since yours is black.

Is there a right way and a wrong way to apply bedliner (rolling vs. spraying?)

Do I need to prep the surface by sanding down rusty spots?

thanks!
