lefty loosy righty tighty just like anything else, if all else fails stab a screwdriver through it and turn it, done that before! if you push it in a little while turning it , it makes it easier.

I've had success taking a large flat head screwdriver and hammer and tapping around the base/rim of the oil filter. Make an indention in the rim, then just tap tap tap tap-a-rooo...

Nevermind, I used a razor blade to loosen the gasket on the filter. It tunred just fine after that.

best way to get it off with no chance of reaking anything is a good big ol' pair of channel locks

Never had this issue before. I have a good filter wrench but the damn thing just wouldnt budge. I was turning it toward the block but I couldnt get much leverage and I didnt have a cheater pipe either. I even hooked the the wrench up to the filter and wrapped a rope around the handle and pulled from the driver side and still nothing. Finally I read about using the razor blade to seperate the seal from the adapter and it worked like a charm. I would say most of you guys jamming screw driver through your filters could probably get it off with the razor on the first try. The problem is the gasket on the filter gets stuck to the adapter making it impossible to turn.

Some people just LOVE to crank on those things. When I did the first oil change on mine, it was a ***** getting the WIX filter off. Had to use that large flathead/hammer/tappin' method I said. About a 1/2 turn and it finally spun off.

Hopefully the Ford FL-1A filter won't be such a pain when it comes time to change again.

i normally spin mine on where the seal is just snug. then turn it like 1 whole turn and a half..its most likely not gonna leak even if u get a good whole turn on it after the seal touches. most people worry about them leakin so they crank on em..its actually worse for them to be "too tight" thats the whole reason for a seal.

Yea, i oiled this one up good. I thought I did the last time also but I guess not. Anyway, I hand tightened this one so it should be fine. I may have tightened it too hard the last time.
