Transmissions

Has anyone heard of cherokees coming stock with a Toyota transmission? My tranny went out and I found out mine was one of them that came stock with a toyota transmission. Not cheap to rebuild. But was told it's one of the stronger of the transmissions.

Engine: 4.0

If its a 4.0L its the AW4 trans. There are some NEW AW4s on the 'net that may or may not be compatible with your XJ, and price is right around $1300 + shipping. This NEW, not remanufactured, and complete with torque converter. I recall that they are left over 1996, and should work with earlier years, but not necessarily '97 and later.
