Clarification please. It shifts up through 3rd if you shift in manually, but if you put it in D, it won't go?

If that's the case check the fuse to the Trans Control Unit aka TCU,

Unfortunately that fuse was intact but they had 10 amp fuse in it! Still looking.

The tCU may have failed.

But, check to see you have voltage at both sides of the fuse with the key ON.

Not that old a thread. Check your tCU fuse and do Tip 10 and Tip 1 at www.cruiser54.com

Did you manage to fix it?

My mech cannot seem to know what the problem is either as he did a trans overhaul and it is still the same. He is assuming there is a crack inside the trans itself and it is not keeping the presure inside but he is not certain about it.

If you had any luck please let me know.

Why not diagnose it?

Check the fuse first. It can be a bit corroded and cause these symptoms.

Failing to do Tips 1 and 10 can do the same.

How did you "check" the electrical. The trans is electronically controlled. How can it not be electrical?
