Bought a 97 jeep Cherokee 4x4 sport the automatic transmission is bad in it I know the 98-01 transmission are different but can I put one out of a 91-96 in it and change the connector for it at the transmission? And will the shifter linkage all fit on it

 

I had a 91 tranny and I was going to put it in a 99 but the guy told me he couldn't switch out the connector. The linkage was fine but the part we couldn't deal with was the connector.

 

I thought you could just splice the connector on

 

But your 99 has different sensors then mine

 

I think the 91 had a 14 prong plug and the 99 had 19, I THINK that's what I was told
