XJ?2010

Okay guys my AW4 is slowly going out in my 2000 XJ with a 4.0L, NP242, C8.25 with a 3.55. Now the current trans has numerous problems including the hard shift into drive and reverse. But, it also has problems on the road it shifts terrible and will slip into lower gears ect. Now I know one option is I could get it rebuilt. Another is a Junkyard AW4. But like so many others I have been wondering about a manual tranny swap. First of all I would do this with the jeep up on a lift and every type of tool at my disposal so thats not a big deal. But I have a few questions.

1) Could I use a AX15 or do i have to stick to a NV3550?
--------- For some reason Jeep didn't put the AX15 into 2000 and 2001 models.

2) Would the NP242 match up correctly?

3) Does anyone have a link to a write up or any other info on this swap?

I have tried to search NAXJA and Jeepforum with no luck.
