They are saying a shifting solenoid and vehicle speed input sensor. Plus burnt fluid but no metal shavings in pan. The speed sensor has been bad for years (throwing code) w no issues. Waiting on a quote

Anybody experience anything like this before with a similar diagnosis? Quoted me 580.00 with new fluid

They are not recommending a complete rebuild or new trans?

Odd. They might actually be honest!

Solenoids are easy to change yourself. I have no clue about the speed sensor.

Likely the shop you brought to is going to advice a revision/rebuilt . Ignore that for now and first see how you go with a complete ATF replacing action. After all, a few gallons of ATF will cost a lot less $$ than a rebuilt.

That's good advice, but if they are just going to replace a solenoid and sensor, maybe that's a better route.

Just make sure they don't do a power flush!

Might be clutches, low on fluid or internal fluid leaking.

Aaaand that didn't fix it. They opened it up and it needs new everything. Clutch, torque converter, etc. 2600.00 ouch

In that case, maybe replace it with another AW4. Can find them for under $200. More if you want a warranty. Source it yourself and have the shop do just the labor.
