Transmission/Shifting problem

Transmission/Shifting problem
I recently bought a 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4.7L I just ran into a transmission problem and I'm not really familiar with these vehicles, can someone please help me on the following. When I shift to Drive gear it shifts directly into 3rd gear and it won't let me shift it into Drive gear.
