Take a look at this photo HERE

I found it under my jeep the yesterday... I was working on the ball joints that day but in the past month I have done a ton of different things on it.

It's a 2000 sport automatic.

Anyone know?

the centering ball from the double cardan joint for the front drive shaft right? Idk how it would just fall out. Either that or its an exhaust bearing

Looks to be from the front driveshaft centering yoke theres a ball in there I believe. But like the guy above me said, make sure your muffler bearings are all still in place.

First off was it nice and clean like that or all dirty & greasy?
Second do any of the neighbor kids have a slingshot and is anything broken or dented nearby?

the centering ball is not perfectly round, it has a hole in it for the spring.

it appears to me it could be a ball bearing from the wheel hub/bearing.

either that or someone is playing a mean foolies joke on you.

Well its not the muffler bearing.. I just replaced them today, like I always do on the 1st of each month.

So It seems to me that it cannot be from the cv joint because some say its not round and had a hole which this does not. agree?

It was just a little big greasy but pretty clean..shiny.. no dents... there are some faint ring marks on it about half the diamater size of the ball bearing itself.

I dont think this could have been a prank.. I had swept before I brought it in that morning and no one elts was around but me...and that garage door was shut...

keep the ideas coming!
