transmission question

newb question here, will a transmission out of a 98 or 99 2wheel drive xj fit in a 88 xj 4x4 and work? just curious if the 2wd trans will effect my 4x4?

it probably wont unless you switch the tail housing for the t-case to bolt on too, not sure if its the same trans though
