Transmission problems?

Transmission problems?
I own a 1996 jeep cherokee xj and when you take off its fine but as soon as it shifts the rpms drop below 1 grand and it tries to stall out and doesnt move very good anyone know what it could be?

It could possibly be a transmission solenoid has gone bad, #2 by the sounds. If it ends up being #2 then it is doing this while changing gears:
1st - 1st
2nd - 1st
3rd - OD
OD - OD
If you use the shifter manually, does it work going from 1-2, to 3 then D?
You should check the fluid level of the transmission which requires it to be up to operating temp (15 mile drive), run through P, R, N, D, N, R, P and check the fluid level on the stick.
To check the solenoids you can quickly and easily probe a few pins on the transmission harness in the engine bay, you are looking for between 11-15 ohms. Pin F I suspect will read OL or 1.
1st - 1st
