Default Transmission Problem (I think)

91 Cherokee - Auto transmission - After a day of playing at the deer lease my Jeep started having a problem taking off from a dead stop. In the COMFORT mode it has to get up to about 1200-1500 RPM for the thing to start moving. In POWER mode its a little better but not much.

Question: Could this be just a torque converter problem or is it most likely 1st gear is just going out in it? It works fine once you get it moving and shifts into 2,3 etc just fine. I actually drove it home about 100 mi. and it did fine on the road.

some people don't
could need a new filter and fluid chang

if you drain it check for particles in the fluid if there is a brownish substance in it you will need a rebuild

Thanks, I'll try that. I will probably have to take it to a transmission place if that doesn't work but want to do what I can before I have to fork over some serious bucks for a rebuild.
