Transmission Problem

I have the AW4 tranny, when I shift into Drive or Rev. it makes a loud clunk and jumps? What could cause this? I also noticed that my front pinion seal is leaking.

Check your drive shaft U-joint It's probably pretty loose. It may be what has caused the pinion gear to leak.

may be a dumb question, but the strap loose or the joint itself?
